After a successful 10-year career in the Canadian Military, Fabien moved to financial planning and international asset management over 27 years ago. Since 1993, he’s advised wealthy individuals, families and business owners at firms ranging from large global asset managers to boutique firms, including Merrill Lynch, CIBC Wood Gundy and yourCFO Advisory Group.
In 2011, Fabien joined Larry Berman at ETF Capital Management as investment committee member, and later was tasked with managing the firm’s operations before the firm’s name was changed to Q Wealth Partners in 2018, to better reflect the enhanced role it played as a national partner-owned portfolio management firm. Fabien then became Partner at Q Weatlh and began operating as WealthLife Capital.
Fabien holds the Chartered Market Technician (CMT), Certified Financial Technician (CFTe), and Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designations, and is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI).
Since 1995, Fabien has been a public speaker and trainer, delivering retirement planning, investment management and change management workshops to corporations and Government departments including the Senate, Foreign Affairs, Public Works, National Research Council, the RCMP, Pfizer Canada, the University of Ottawa, and others. He’s been a guest speaker at Larry Berman’s national educational events and on radio shows such as CFRA’s Experts on Call. He also publishes technical analysis research to portfolio managers and financial advisors across Canada and the U.S. and is sometimes tasked with providing expert financial and investment planning analysis to media personalities in support of their television appearances.
Fluently bilingual and originally from Montreal, Fabien and his wife Jane have lived in the Ottawa region for over 30 years, and both travel extensively across the U.S., Europe and the Far East for business and pleasure. Fabien is an avid trimix technical scuba diver and is a member of the acclaimed Global Underwater Explorers. He’s an established musician and enjoys coaching young chess players when not playing in chess competitions.
